Today, the hotel has been restored to the classy looks it flaunted during the 1920's. Architect Robert Reamer-- who designed the rustic Old Faithful Inn-- didn't create the Lake Hotel, but is responsible for its look: he added the white columns, false dormers, and other features that give this lakeside hotel its decidedly un-rustic unique character. Above is the front of the Yellowstone Lake Hotel, and wide porte-cochere.
You might see a suitably classy taxi parked in front: one of the triple-long retro yellow taxis that are a signature feature in Yellowstone.
A highlight of the Yellowstone Lake Hotel is its spacious Sun Room, with panoramic vista over the Lake. Other features include beautiful period details, elegant dining room, and interesting photo displays of Park history.
Accommodations range from rooms renovated with historic details, to modest rooms in an annex, to cabins available in summer.
