It's an annual event: the Universal Studios Florida theme park -- one of two theme parks at Universal Orlando-- celebrates Mardi Gras with a 10-block parade, live music, and more. And this being a theme park, the holiday celebrations occur on an extended basis: from early-February to mid-April. 2012 dates are Saturdays "and select nights" from February 11 through April 14.
On these nights, you can expect:
- a spectacular parade, with elaborate floats from, you guessed it, New Orleans
- extravagant costumes, stilt-walkers, street performers
- Cajun and Creole cuisine
- live bands, including name acts from today and yesteryear
- select rides and attractions will be open during the parade and concerts.
