It's an annual event: the Universal Studios Florida theme park -- one of two theme parks, at Universal Orlando-- celebrates Mardi Gras with a 10-block parade and more. And this being a theme park, the holiday celebrations occur on an extended basis: from early-February to mid-April. 2008 dates are Saturday nights from Feb. 2 to April 19.

On these nights, you can expect:

  • a spectacular parade, with elaborate floats from, you guessed it, New Orleans
  • extravagant costumes, stilt-walkers, street performers
  • Cajun and Creole cuisine
  • live bands including some big-name headliners
  • select rides and attractions will be open during the parade and concerts.
Cost is included in regular park admission to Universal Studios. Or check for "Mardi Gras After Five Ticket" tickets, which may be offered for admission after 5 pm on Mardi Gras event nights.
