What's a "Family Adventure Vacation"? Typically these are small-group tours featuring great outdoor activities in top spots such as Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, or the Rockies. All details are handled and guests enjoy a hassle-free deluxe experience.
Some lower-budget family adventure options are available too, sometimes through outdoors organizations. But by and large this is a high-end vacation with, typically, six days of superlative experiences. "Multisports" are usually part of the picture: hiking, rafting, horse-riding, etc.
The Family Adventure world was enlivened in 2005 by a high-profile new entrant: Adventures by Disney. The Mouse has jumped in with escorted trips to Wyoming, the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii, and more.
