Beach getaways, especially all inclusive resorts, are a hugely popular type of family holiday, and offer watersports, deluxe pools, and myriad activities; water park features are a trend.
Some Caribbean Resorts have terrific kids programs, and even nurseries. Mexico has many all inclusives in several areas, including Cancun and in the Riviera Maya just south of Cancun (with Mayan ruins, coral reef, eco-theme parks). See:
