He also notes that parking can be difficult for this small gem: Hamoa Beach is just 1000-feet long and 100-feet wide, and is reached by steps down a 30-foot cliff.
Dr. Beach praises this "pocket beach" as the "most famous of Maui's Hana beaches," and notes that it's a mix of coral and lava sand, and that the beach is "actually inside a breached volcanic crater." To get there, take the famous Road to Hana, which has dramatic views, 20-mile stretches of narrow winding road, over 600 curves (according to Wikipedia), and 46 one-lane bridges...
