For an affordable and nearly-all-inclusive vacation in the U.S., try a "family camp": price includes lodging (sometimes rustic cabins, sometimes a lodge or inn), meals, and many outdoor activities.

At the Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp, families can stay in dorm-style bedrooms with private bathrooms, in cabins, cottages, or in a Lodge. Deer Valley has 742 acres at the foot of Mount Davis, about two hours drive from Pittsburgh and three from Washington DC. (Frank Lloyd Wright's famous house, Fallingwater, is nearby.) The location has woods, hills, fields, miles of trails for horse-riding, and a lake for watersports.

Family camps are all about activities in the Great Outdoors, and the list here includes rock-climbing, archery, windsurfing, kayaking, hiking, Frisbee golf, and animal tracking. Sports such as tennis, volleyball and basketball are part of the picture too. Also, kids programs for ages three and up are offered during summer camps, as are supervised teen programs.
