Two hours from Orlando, the St. Pete/Clearwater area has 35 miles of shoreline, southwest of Tampa. The area offers great beaches and many fun activities for families. For example:

• daily Sunset Festival at Pier 60
• outings on the water: pirate cruise, dolphin tour, shelling trip
• turtle nests on the beach
• a visit to Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary (right)
• sponge diving tour in the Greek-influenced community of Tarpon Springs
• far-out visions at the Salvador Dali Museum; special tour for kids.
• Busch Gardens Tampa Bay theme park
