Three hours from NYC, "Chocolate Town USA" has several fun attractions for families-- most notably Hersheypark theme park. Families can stay either at the classic Hotel Hershey (with kids club and Chocolate Spa) or the sprawling family-friendly Hershey Lodge.
Hersheypark doesn't open until May, but during one weekend in mid-April you can preview the summer fun, during Springtime in the Park: Select rides are running, and admission price is low.
Also during the spring months: Hershey Lodge and the Hotel Hershey typically have seasonal packages, such as a Family Fun Package.
