- Sea Island Georgia -- home of a legandary upscale resort-- is one of the barrier islands off southern Georgia, with a mild climate, and yearly average temperature of 68°. Average for March is about 70°, 75° in April, but of course days vary; early March highs swung from 65 to 81°. Water temperature, meanwhile, averages 66° in spring.
Award-winning and the kind of place where families return for generations, Sea Island's main building, The Cloister, was built in 1928. Four resorts share 10,000 acres of forest, lawn, and marshland, 5 miles of private beachfront, and many outdoor and indoor activities for families. Kids programs are offered during spring break. (Check with the resort, for updates.)
- Hilton Head Island, South Carolina: this popular destination has average highs in the 70's in March and April, and a range of lodgings, from upscale gated resort communities to vacation home rentals, with a lot in between including a Disney resort. Kids programs are mainly summer-only, but some are offered during spring break too.
- Myrtle Beach, SC: great beaches, great fun parks -- but Myrtle Beach is a mecca for college spring breakers, so families tend to visit other times of the year.
- Gulf Shores Alabama
- Chatanooga, TN: much more than a choo-choo...
