For Family Skiing:
Sundance has a Ski and Snowboard School for Children, with group classes for ages 6 to 12, and semi-private lessons for "Wild Bunch" four to five-year-olds; adult lessons, too.
This is a smaller ski resort, with three lifts and 41 ski trails*, 450 skiable
acres, and a vertical drop of 2150'. If your kids are old enough to want
to do some skiing on their own, a ski resort of this size is great for
convenient meeting-up.
And bonus: night-skiing, on the majority of the mountain.
Note that only three trails are "Easiest", so
Sundance is probably not the best choice for novices. Utah has lots of other
options -- see Salt Lake City ski resorts -- and families can easily sample a couple of ski resorts on one trip.
Hubbing out of Salt Lake City is one way of doing this, and economical chain hotels are available. However, visitors to Sundance will probably want to stay right at this quiet and scenic location, and settle into one of the cottages...
