Breckenridge Colorado is a family-friendly ski resort, and the fun gets even better when the town of Breckenridge hosts its annual International Snow Sculpture Championship.
In 2012, artists start sculpting on January 24th. Teams come from around the globe; each four-person team gets a 12-foot tall 20-ton block of machine-made snow to sculpt, using hand tools (no power tools.) Sculpting ends on January 28 and judging and awards follow; the sculptures remain (weather permitting) until February 5th.
Breckenridge is located 104 miles from the Denver airport. Visitors like the charming Victorian mining town, as well as the ski slopes; Breckenridge has plenty of child care and kids' programs, a novice terrain park, and more for families.
