A top trend in family travel is "resorts with indoor water parks". Several brands have been building properties, and CoCo Key Water Resorts joined the gang by adding waterparks to existing family-friendly resorts in the northeast and the midwest.

CoCo Key West Water Resorts - background

The decor and name is inspired by Key West, Florida, and the motto is: "It's always Florida inside" the indoor waterparks. Signature features include:

  • Shark Slam, Gator Gush & Barracuda Blast - three body- and raft-waterslides
  • Parrot's Perch Play Island: interactive adventure zone with water cannons, spray nozzles, and thousand-gallon bucket dump
  • Palm Grotto Indoor/Outdoor Spa - giant whirlpools
  • Dip In Theater - float on a tube in the waterpark and watch a flick

Cherry Valley Lodge

The first property to get a CoCo Key Water Resort is Cherry Valley Lodge, in Newark, Ohio, 25 miles east of Columbus.

Features of Cherry Valley Lodge include: rustic interior, with stone fireplaces in a large lobby; large guest rooms; 18 acres, landscaped courtyard, arboretum and botanical garden; new Banyan Leaf Spa (January 2007).

Opening date for the CoCo Key Water Resort at Cherry Valley Lodge was December 2006; size is 50,000 square feet.

Note that 50,000 sq. feet is modest compared to some of the giant spreads in Wisconsin Dells. Also, the water resort will be open to the public, which may mean line-ups for the waterslides; check visitors' comments to see how it all flows -- see below.
