Castaway Bay: Background

This waterfront hotel on Lake Erie is owned by the Cedar Point amusement park, a venerable institution that opened in 1870 and built its first coaster in 1892, and that delivers white-knuckle thrills in the 21st century, plus much fun for the whole family including plenty for little kids. (Read more about Cedar Point.)

Summer guests can enjoy one of Lake Erie's few sandy beaches, plus Cedar Point amusement park (open May to October); winter guests can make a splash at the indoor waterpark resorts.

Castaway Bay highlights include:

  • 5-story structure with Caribbean theme, palm trees, huts, inland lagoons
  • admission restricted to Castaway Bay guests
  • Cargo Crossing interactive play area
  • wave pool, with 3-foot waves for body-surfing
  • Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse
  • Toddler's Tide Pool play area
  • Rendezvous Run "water roller coaster" that propels riders uphill using water jets.
Castaway Bay also has Camp Castaway daily crafts (free, or small fee), and evening games.
