The Seine is pedestrian friendly in several ways: there are wide walkways on each side at street level; there are lower walkways at river level, on certain segments; and sometimes, the road sections by the river are closed to traffic, too!
Another excellent way to see the Seine is by boat tour. Tour boats run frequently, and are very popular; some serve dinner, too.
