This hotel -- 18 stories, with showpiece atrium lobby -- sits on 1500 acres, with horseback riding, nature trails, golf. Location is 18 miles from the Orlando airport, between Disney World and Universal Studios, and close to Downtown Disney and to many restaurants. Daily shuttles take guests to the theme parks.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has 700 guestrooms and suites (with balcony), and multiple restaurants; meeting facilities draw business clientele. For families, special Kids Suites have two adjoining rooms, bunkbeds for kids.

Grounds are landscaped with flowers and fountains; and thanks to a partnership with the Audubon Center, guests can explore 45 acres of cypress swamp.

This hotel has golf academy, Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, spa.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress - features for families:

This hotel has two types of kids programs (see below) and a great many activities that kids will enjoy.

  • 21-acre Lake Windsong, with paddeboats, kayaks, canoes, squa-cycles, sailboats, 1000-ft. sand beach
  • half-acre pool: waterfalls, water slides, rope bridge, cave you can swim through
  • Nature Walks: thanks to a partnership with the Audubon Society, guests can explore 45 acres of cypress swamp. Walk along a one-mile boardwalk; on-site nature specialists can answer questions about the wildlife--alligators, eagles, other birds...
  • Equestrian Center: horse-riding and trail rides (at extra charge); also, summer riding camps (British style) for kids, and birthday parties with pony rides. Little kids enjoy just visiting the stables, too.
  • Biking:beach cruiser bicyles; old-fashioned surrey bikes with canopies.
  • Trails range from 1.3 to 4.7 miles.

Daily resort fee includes fitness center, bikes, lake watersports, tennis, racquetball, rock-climbing wall, nine-hole pitch and putt, so kids can sample these activities as much as they want. Rafts and float toys are available at no extra cost. Other activities might include pool games, dive-in movies.

Camp Hyatt kids program:

  • for ages 5 to 12

  • activities such as Fish Feeding Frenzy, Sand Castle Creations, Pedal Boat Power, Visit to the Horse Hotel

  • Daily during summer; Saturdays and Sundays year-round*; reserve in advance.

In addition, there's a Child Care Center, open year-round, for ages three (and completely toilet-trained) to twelve.

Keep in Mind about Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress:

  • expect to pay a daily resort fee ($15 a day)*
  • this hotel has a lot of business clientele
  • food and drinks are expensive, but location is close to restaurants and shopping
  • kids must be 18 to sail
  • large pool is unheated and can be cold depending on season/weather
  • some rooms have a few of Disney fireworks
