'The Cape', in Massachusetts, is one of the most popular New England vacation spots in summer; in fact, parking near beach access can get problematic.
Features include: colonial-style towns; biking trails (bikes for rent) ; sand dunes, sea grass, scrub oak, marshlands; sea kayaking; forests inland; Cape Cod Railroad touristic ride. The islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are nearby, and are also big draws in July in August.
