A giant, razzle-dazzle toy store that kids will beg to visit: this flagship Toys"R"Us store is in Times Square, that little snippet of NYC that gets 26M visitors every year.
Toys"R"Us is, of course, the giant toy store chain; and this giant store takes the notion of "toy store as fun place" into a whole a new zone, with on-site "attractions" such as: a 60-foot tall indoor ferris wheel; a 34-foot animatronic Jurassic Park T-Rex (above) ; Barbie's Dollhouse that spans two floors; life-size Candyland board game, filled with candy; a giant skyline of NYC built with LEGO bricks.*
In the "Filled with Love" area, kids make their own plush animal toy with official birth certificate. This mega- toy store also has special events and performances (bubble artists, preschool bands...)
As at several of the New York City toy stores mentioned here personal shoppers are complimentary. (And they'll even help you by phone.)
About's Guide for NYC for Visitors has tips for visiting Times Square.
*Always check web sites for updates!
The brief profiles of these toy stores are meant to introduce these "shopping experiences" to family travelers; please note that the writer has not visited every store in person.
