Iberostar Paraiso Lindo - Background:

Iberostar is a Spanish company with many resorts worldwide.

The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo -- opened in Nov. 2003-- is on the Mayan Riviera on Playa Paraiso, where Iberostar has five resorts, plus conference center, golf, shopping, and more.

Location is 30 minutes south of the Cancun airport; nearest town is Playa del Carmen.

The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo has 446 rooms including 62 junior suites, and its luxury sister resort, Iberostar Paraiso Maya, has 432 suites suites. The two resorts share a pool complex and several specialty restaurants; the Maya has some exclusive areas, though.

Guests at the Lindo can visit the other pair of resorts at Playa Paraiso -- the Iberostar Paraiso Beach and Paraiso Del Mar-- for a total of 14 locations for food and drink. (Guests at these resorts don't share the Lindo, though.)

Iberostar Paraise Lindo - features for families:

Pools: include a lake-style pool, lazy river, wave pool, kids' pool and activity pool.

lush grounds: kids love to spot peacocks, iguanas, turtles, even monkeys

Riviera Maya location: explore Tulum ruins, Xcaret and other eco-theme parks, coral reef

kids club: for ages 4 to 12

watersports include kayaks, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, scuba demo in pool. Scuba is offered, but at an extra cost.

Keep in mind about the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo:

  • the grounds of this resort complex are large; a shuttle runs approximately every ten minutes
  • men need long pants for some restaurants
  • dining in a specialty restaurant is guaranteed 3 times a week
  • the Paraiso Maya and the (new in 2007) Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso have exclusive areas
  • there's a topless beach
  • bring dollar bills for tips, and cash for extras such as hair-braiding and banana boat ride
