Natural History Museum - dino greeter; stuff for kids

London -Natural History Museum -lobby

The lobby of the Natural History Museum is suitable vast and grand: more than big enough for a full-size dinosaur skeleton. Kids can feel free to get excited: there are many more dinosaurs to come.

Don't rush through to the exhibits, though. Pick up some Discover Guides, designed for young visitors, ages 3 to 18. (Or, if you're really organized, print these out online before your trip.)

There are Discovery Guides for Dinosaurs, Creepy Crawlies, Human Biology, geology, and many other topics.

Check, too, for Special Workshops for ages under seven, or for families with older children.

Check also at the Information desks for Explorer Backpacks, for under-sevens, with drawing materials and themed activities. The Backpacks are free, but a refundable deposit is required.

And of course there are guidebooks for sale in the gift shop.
