London Eye - capacity and queues

London Eye - half circle

The 32 passenger capsules of the London Eye can carry 15,000 visitors a day.

This is more than just an impressive fact. Visitors should know that The Eye is extremely popular, and in summer, line-ups -- "queues"-- to buy tickets can last for hours.

Visitors can buy certain premium tickets to avoid the queues, but these are pricey: £ 25.00, for example, for Fast Track. In fact, even regular tickets will cost a family a pretty penny. (See London Eye site for current rates.)

The best way to avoid line-ups is to book tickets online; you may even get a discount. There is, however, one small problem... When you pre-buy your ticket, you'll be taking a chance on the weather the day of your "flight". And London gets 11 to 15 "wet days" a month. (BBC Weather World.)
