Even if a performance is sold out, you may be able to buy "groundling" tickets, if you're prepared to stand up throughout the performance. Some might argue that the groundlings have the best spots in the house, and the atmosphere down on the floor is casual and fun.
Above: the cast take bows after a matinee of Romeo and Juliet. The tall figure on the right is Juliet's nurse, played by a man; all-male performances are occasionally given, as in Shakespeare's day.
The theatre season runs from early May through September. (Check web site for updates; and you can buy tickets online.)
