Nobody knows for sure what the original Globe looked like; but printed panoramas, written accounts, plans for nearby theatres, and references within Shakespeare's plays have all helped piece together a good guess.
Elizabethan theatres were polygonal, not circular; and when a small portion of the original Globe was found and excavated, scholars were able to figure out that it had been a 20-sided building, with a diameter of 100 feet.
