Todi, main square

Driving in Umbria from Orvieto to Assisi, we took a short detour to the delightfully-named Todi: the most scenic one-hour side trip I've had the pleasure to take.

Todi is not only picture-perfect, perched on its hill, it's also been called "the world's most sustainable city" and "most liveable town".

Above: many Italian towns have a "Piazza del Popolo", a "Square of the People". Todi's is one of the most photogenic.
