What could be more romantic than la dolce vita, Italian-style?
The Portofino Bay Hotel is part of Universal Orlando, a complex that includes two great theme parks (Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida) and three resorts, all within walking distance; but why walk, when you can take a free water-taxi?
Teens love the Universal parks for thrill rides, but there's plenty for young kids too: such as Seuss Landing, the Shrek attraction, Jimmy Neutron, and lots more.
And here's a major perk, if you stay at the Portofino (or the other two resorts): Front of the Line Access to the popular (crowded) rides.
As for the resort itself: The Portofino Bay is modeled on Portofino, Italy, and a fine job is done with some very nice detailing: see photos. Families will like the the gelateria (ice-cream) and the zero-entry beach pool, with waterslide and adjacent kiddie pool; there's a lovely grown-up pool, as well.
The Portofino has a kids club opening in the evening; parents can enjoy dining on-property, strolling by the pretty little harbor, or heading to nearby CityWalk for nightlife.
Rooms are luxurious; this is a AAA Four Diamond Award winner, Gold List of Conde Nast Traveler type of place.
