And quite often the Bunny rides the rails, on an Easter train where kids can get on board.
Easter Trains
Many tourist trains put on a special Easter train, complete with giant white bunny on board to hand out treats; or perhaps the train will whisk kids to an Easter Egg hunt.
Easter trains are part of a trend for tourist railroads to run special themed rides on holidays throughout the year. Easter trains and Halloween trains are relatively new, and may only run on one or two dates -- plan ahead and book early.
Sample Easter Train Rides:
- Vermont: Green Mountain Flyer Easter Bunny Express - Ride with the Bunny; games, candy too
- New Jersey: Whippany Railway Museum:
Historic route; several dates for Easter train rides.
- Lebanon Ohio: LM&M Railroad: ride the train to the Easter Bunny's stomping grounds.
- New Mexico: Santa Fe Southern Railway: ride with the Easter Bunny on two routes.
-
Colorado: Durango & Silverton Railroad:
An Easter train with a special theme. Peanuts™ The Easter Beagle Express features characters from the classic Peanuts comic strip and cartoon show: Snoopy (the inimitable beagle dog), Charlie Brown, Lucy... Plus the usual fun with Easter Bunnies on the train, Easter egg hunt, and more.
-
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, NC
Another tourist railroad that runs the Peanuts™ The Easter Beagle Express. Kids have fun hunting eggs; photo ops with Snoopy, too.
- Arizona: Verde Canyon Railroad
Annual Easter train with Bunny, candy, fun activities; 40 minute drive from Sedona.
- Felton, California: Roaring Camp Railroad - Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt
