Every holiday is an opportunity for a family getaway! See ideas for Halloween, Christmas, and other Holiday Events for family travelers.

  • Chinese New Year -- also known as the "Spring Festival"-- falls on a different date each year, from late Jan. to mid-Feb. Some cities celebrate over several weeks, including a colorful parade.
  • Memorial Day Weekend
The long weekend that occurs with the last Monday in May is unofficially the start of summer: here's some getaway ideas to help you start the season right.

  • Labor Day Weekend
In the US and Canada, the first Monday in September is a tribute to workers; to most people, however, Labor Day is the last-blast of summer fun. Find getaway packages and special events.

  • Halloween Events
This popular page about Halloween family fun has haunted houses, Boos at Zoos, and creepy fun staged everywhere from science museums to theme parks to corn mazes.
  • Thanksgiving Vacation Ideas
Many ideas for Thanksgiving Getaways, from country inns, to beach resorts. At many resorts, Thanksgiving weekend launches the Holiday Season, with events such as tree-lighting or appearances by Santa.
  • Holiday Season
So much fun for families: Holiday Lights, Polar Express and other Christmas train rides; Great Places to See Santa; Christmas vacation packages; special Holiday Season events from the Nutcracker through Hannukah celebrations through Kwanzaa festivals.
  • First Night Festivities
"First Night" events celebrate New Year's with family-friendly non-alcohol-imbibing festivities-- and as if that weren't good enough, they're low-cost, too. Find events in your area.
