St. Paul, MN: Flint Hills International Children's Festival
Late May. Performers from around the world showcase puppetry, drama, and dance at the Ordway Center. During Family Weekend, Rice Park and Landmark Plaza "come alive as tents fill with families creating art, modeling costumes, sampling international cuisine, singing, dancing, and much more".
Houston Children's Festival
April; over 100,000 people attend "Houston's Official Family Celebration", set in downtown Houston, with entertainment and fun activities.
Seattle International Children's Festival - now "Giant Magnet"
"The name has changed. The mission of presenting world-class performing arts programming for children and adventurous people of all ages stays the same!" More like a series of performances, in April and May; Seattle and Tacoma venues.
Vancouver BC International Children's Festival
May; Vancouverites are used to seeing huge colorful tents on the waterfront at Vanier Park, not far from the city's core. Performers from around the world, hands-on art activities, workshops on juggling or stilt-walking, and special tents, sandbox, etc. for the youngest kids.
Calgary International Children's Festival
May; focus is on the performing arts, with shows, workshops, and installations.
