April and May bring a blossoming of Children's Festivals in cities in the US and Canada. Families can find colorful performances, clowns, crafts, and general good times for kids. A number of Children's Festivals are listed below.

Pittsburgh International Children's Festival
May; all sorts of performances; acrobats, puppets, music, theatre, dance from around the world. Lots of activities and exhibits, too.

Philadelphia International Children's Festival
Early April. Children's entertainment from around the world, jugglers, storytellers, musicians...

St. Paul, MN: Flint Hills International Children's Festival
Late May. Performers from around the world showcase puppetry, drama, and dance at the Ordway Center. During Family Weekend, Rice Park and Landmark Plaza "come alive as tents fill with families creating art, modeling costumes, sampling international cuisine, singing, dancing, and much more".

Houston Children's Festival
April; over 100,000 people attend "Houston's Official Family Celebration", set in downtown Houston, with entertainment and fun activities.

Seattle International Children's Festival: Giant Magnet
May; twenty-five years of "introducing young audiences to the world – its people, customs and cultures – through the performing arts."

Chicago International Children's Film Festival
Late October, early November: over 25,000 kids and adults attend, and over 250 films of all kinds are shown.

Costa Mesa, California, Festival of Children
September, month-long, held in conjunction with National Child Awareness Month. Over 100 stage and hands-on activities, including dance, puppets, jugglers, arts and crafts. Kids may get to meet-and-greet with some favorite characters. Costa Mesa is in Orange County.

Vancouver BC International Children's Festival
May; Vancouverites are used to seeing huge colorful tents on the waterfront at Vanier Park, not far from the city's core. Performers from around the world, hands-on art activities, workshops on juggling or stilt-walking, and special tents, sandbox, etc. for the youngest kids.

Calgary International Children's Festival
May; the focus is on the performing arts, with shows, workshops, and installations.
