Oahu is the most-visited Hawaiian island, and most of its resorts are concentrated on that most famous of beaches, Waikiki. Only a few resorts or hotels are on the beach itself; others are just across the road; others still are just a short walk away. One resort in particular prides itself on value and on its kids programs. Maui's got the high-end too: for example, Maui's been voted "Best Island in the World" by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.
Hawaii's largest island has some top places for resorts: such as the Kohala Coast, on the west of the island, where eight properties welcome families.
Kauai is the "Garden Isle": expect verdant natural beauty, and slower pace. Note, however, that many of Kauai's beaches have surf that's too rough for swimming; some resorts compensate with lavish pools.
