Maui is a popular island, for families: many stay at condo's, but Maui's also big with resort-goers. Maui has many resorts in all price ranges, but is especially known at the high-end: for example, Maui's been voted "Best Island in the World" by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, and one of the "Worlds Best Islands" by readers of Travel + Leisure -- both magazines beloved by high-end travelers.

Hawaii Resorts - Maui
Ka'anapali Beach Hotel
Value alert: this place aims to be "a moderately-priced first-class hotel", and also "Maui's most Hawaiian hotel." The free kids' "Aloha Passport" program of activities features local arts and crafts. The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel has low-rise rooms and suites, and 11 beachfront acres; a popular snorkeling spot is nearby.
Grand Wailea Resort and Spa
This luxury property has forty acres on the southwest side of Maui, which reportedly has the sunniest and driest climate on the island. Fun includes kids camp and the Canyon Activity Pools, nine pools connected by a river that floats swimmers along.
Four Seasons Maui
Four Seasons resorts are known for luxury and above all for service, and there are guests for whom only the Four Seasons (or a similar brand) will do. Maui's Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea -- the first Hawaii resort to win the AAA Five Diamond Award and Mobil Five-Star Award -- is located on a beautiful beach at Wailea. The Four Seasons Maui has a kids' club and bunch of complimentary services and nice touches for families. Four Seasons also has resorts on Lanai and the Big Island.
Sheraton Maui Resort
This resort has 22 acres and a great location on Ka'anapali Beach; Ohana ("family") suites; Westin Kids Club Discovery Room and programs for ages 5 to 12; meandering 142' swimming lagoon; kids pool; complimentary activities such as family pool races, scavenger hunt, hula lessons; you'll have to pay to rent beach chairs, cabanas, boogie boards, and snorkel gear, though. Guests will find snorkeling and scuba nearby at Black Rock; and December through April, you can usually see whales.
