Snowkiting is a new winter sport and as the name suggests, basically people use giant kites to catch windpower and glide across snow or ice, using skis or a snowboard. Snowkiting is related to kiteboarding or kitesurfing, a sport that's perhaps better known, but snowkiting is easier to learn especially on a flat surface like a frozen lake.

Colorado Kite Force, which offers lessons on Lake Dillon near the Keystone and Breckenridge ski resorts. Could be a fun thing to try on a Colorado vacation!
