Vero Beach - Background:
Vero Beach is in Southeast Florida on the "Treasure Coast" (so named because of treasure found from numerous shipwrecks.) The Treasure Coast today has beautiful beaches, surfing, coral reef in some areas, and revived downtowns.
Disney's Vero Beach Resort -- 71 acres on a barrier island, with inn, villas and beachfront cottages-- is in the style of "Old Florida" grand beach hotels.
The property operates as an upscale hotel and is also part of Disney's timeshare Vacation Club.
Disney's Vero Beach is, by the way, about two hours drive SE from Orlando, and quite a few guests arrive for R&R away from the theme parks. Meanwhile, driving time north from Miami is 3 hours; nearest airport is Melbourne, and an airport shuttle serves the property.
