"Family Adventures" are a nice niche in the family travel market: small-group escorted tours explore the Great Outdoors, or perhaps castles in France; the itinerary is best-of-the-best, and all details are handled.

A few years back, Disney entered the field with "Adventures by Disney", delivering what's expected of a "family adventure" plus a Disney touch.

And here's the deal, and the chance to save thousands: for three itineraries, a child (for to 14) goes free with a paying adult.

• Adventures by Disney Fiesta España (Spain):
  Madrid, Granada & Seville (9 days/8 nights); in addition to great sightseeing, highlights include dinner show and flamenco dancing in a gypsy cave, horse farm visit, and painting a souvenir piece of Andalucian pottery.

• Imperial Cities (Austria and the Czech Republic):
  Vienna, Salzburg & Prague (8 days/7 nights); tour baroque cities; visit the Vienna Zoo after-hours visit, go backstage at a marionette show in Salzburg.

• Path to Pura Vida (Costa Rica):
