The Antlers at Vail Lodge is a family friendly condominium hotel just 150 yards from the Vail ski gondola; but don't think this is a winter-only place to visit. Like many ski resorts these days, there's much to do in summer too.
Such as "Night Vision River Rafting": trips start at twilight as an experienced guide steers the raft down Class l and ll water. Guests take in the sights and sounds of nocturnal animals on the river banks, and observe the night sky and learn about the constellations. Cool part for kids: guests use Night Vision Monoculars (same technology used by the military and movie industry), which give a whole new view of night.
Night Vision River Rafting package includes two hour rafting tour and one nights lodging in a one-bedroom condo with additional bunk beds at the Antlers; prices start at $139 per person, quad occupancy. Packages are offered from May through October, with the lowest rates in spring and fall. Condominium units include full kitchens, fireplaces, VCRs (there's an in-house movie library), private balconies.
