Hyatt has properties world-wide, including the Grand Hyatt brand and Hyatt Regency Hotels. Though Hyatt hotels and resorts certainly have their adult pleasures -- such as spas and golf-- most also offer plenty to please their family clientele.

Hyatt Brands as Family Hotels

For starters, many Hyatt hotels and resorts have pool complexes that families will enjoy, with multiple swimming pools, waterslides, etc. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, for example, has a cluster of pools including a lazy-river, an island with jacuzzi, and a 150-foot waterslide, plus a large saltwater lagoon. There's also a luau right on-property, and a Camp Hyatt for kids.

Camp Hyatt
Camp Hyatt kids clubs are offered (for a fee) at many properties, for kids age three to twelve, in full day or half day sessions, and evening sessions at some resorts.

The Hyatt Regency Huntingdon Beach, for instance, has daytime and evening sessions, and activities include pool and beach games, night swim, S'mores roast, story telling, star gazing, koi fish feeding; sand crabbing, making seashell necklaces, sand art, and decorating a miniature surfboard.* This resort is in southern California, with a great location for surf lessons.

Camp Hyatt programs typically incorporate local flavor, such as hula dancing and lei-making in Hawaii.

Other Family-Friendly Features at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts:

  • kids under 18 stay free (at most properties)
  • children's menus are offered in restaurants
  • look for "family plan" room rates offering 50% off a second room for kids
Some Properties Go All Out to Welcome Families
For example, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa -- a 500-acre resort, 40 minutes from Santa Fe, New Mexico-- has a unique setting on land that's part of a native American Pueblo. The resort highlights native culture in special family activities and at the Camp Hyatt kids' club. A Family Program includes such activities as native pottery-making, adobe brick-making, Native American stories under the stars (with S'mores), horseback riding to view petroglyphs and ruins.
