Summer Adventure Vacations for Families

  • Crow Canyon Archeological Center, Colorado:
one-week family camp for the whole family; "no experience necessary". Hands-on activities introduce your family to the practice of archaeology and to the history of the Anasazi, the ancestral Pueblo Indians. And yes, you do actually get to dig-- alongside real archaeologists at an ancient Pueblo Indian site. Nature hike, storytelling, lots more.

Price includes three home-cooked meals a day, and lodgings on the Center's 170-acre campus in log cabins built in the style of Native American hogans. (Showers and toilets are adjacent.)

Note: 2006 program is full, but you can call and get on a waiting list; who knows, perhaps they'll add another week!
