6. Casa de Campo (Not an All Inclusive Resort)
The name means "country house", but don't let that humble moniker fool you: this is a prominent DR resort with many villas and residences, 7000 acres, equestrian center, 16th century Italian village (!), kids' programs, famous golf course, polo. Many activities for kids and families. Not an all inclusive resort, but with this size and stature, it deserves a mention; also, inclusive packages may be available.
7. Breezes Puerto Plata All Inclusive Resort
This resort is part of the Breezes brand of SuperClubs all-inclusives; location is on the North Coast, half an hour from Puerto Plata airport. Features include: miniclub for kids; meandering freeform pool; trapeze, rock-climbing wall, kayaks, boogie boards, soccer field, tennis, 9-hole pitch'n'putt, etc., and other activities; daily shuttles to Cabarete and Sosua.
