Background about Club Med Punta Cana:
-all inclusive resort with terrific kids programs and many activities. Note: since time of writing, this resort has had a $34M renovation.

Club Med is a unique brand of all-inclusive, in several ways:

  • Club Med has done "AI" for decades. "Club Mediteranee" started in 1950 as a non-profit tent village on a Mediterranean beach
  • globetrotter: over 90 villages in 40 countries, with over 1.2M guests a year
Since that first tent village much has changed as Club Med grew world-scale and upscale. But some basics have remained.

From the start, Club Med villages has had GM's and GO's: GM's are the guests (Gentil membres, "gracious members") ; and GO's are the staff (gentils organisateurs, "gracious organizers.") Both groups socialize, eat at the same restaurants, dance "crazy signs" together, etc.

This makes for a wonderfully friendly ambiance, especially in a family resort: kids love to see their Mini Club leader out-and-about.

What's most unique about Club Med:
