Breckenridge - Colorado Ski Resort: Background

Breckenridge a popular Rocky Mountain ski resort that's 104 miles from the Denver International Airport. Parents will like the charming Victorian town, that's over 140 years old; kids will like the outdoor ice skating on Maggie Pond.

As for Breckenridge the ski resort: guests can roam over three mountains, summit elevation is 12,998 feet, vertical rise is 3,398 feet, and total ski/ride terrain is over 2300 acres.

Terrain is made of: Beginner, 14%, intermediate, 31%, Advanced 19%, and a whopping 36% for Expert.

Features of Breckenridge for Families:

  • Child care is offered at two Breckenridge Children's Centers, with slope-side nurseries for infants, toddlers, or pre-schoolers
  • The year-round alpine coaster, Gold Runner< twists down 2500 feet with maximum speed of 30 mph. Riders control their own speed in two-seater cars with brakes. Alpine coasters are lots of fun for families!
  • Ski and Ride School takes kids three and up, in different age groups. Teen programs, too.

Breckenridge ski resort has several terrain parks including one for novices with smaller jumps, rails, fun boxes and even a halfpipe.
