The Homestead is a Virginia mountain resort with centuries of history: host to "Presidents, Princes, and sports enthusiasts" since it's founding in 1766.
According to the season, activities include golf on three championship courses, horseback riding, sporting clays, hiking trails, fly fishing, falconry, mountain biking.
Winter offers snow sports right on-site: skiing on nine downhill runs, ice skating on an Olympic-sized rink, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, guided snowmobile tours, snowboarding, snow-tubing. The Homestead has lessons and rentals for skiing/ boarding, and a Kids Ski Free promotion for ages 12 and under, Monday through Thursday (with some exclusions.)
The Homestead has programs for kids and teens, and seasonal activities such as holiday concerts, sleigh rides, hot cider and cookies, Christmas caroling and story-telling. New Year's Eve Celebration, too. A stay at The Homestead includes bed, breakfast buffet, and dinner.
