One&Only Ocean Club - background:
One&Only Resorts is a small group of properties created for the luxury resort market; other locations include Los Cabos (The Palmilla), the Maldives, and Dubai.
The One&Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island in the Bahamas was formerly a private estate; it opened in 2000 and has received a Conde Nast Readers' Choice Award. Units include rooms, suites, cottages and private villas.
Features of the One&Only Ocean Club Resort
As would be expected, the One&Only Ocean Club has a spa (with private villas for two), fine dining, status fitness center, and championship golf. More novel is round-the-clock butler service. Nice touches include champagne and strawberries in the afternoon and nightly turn-down with Godiva chocolates.
And as a bonus: can use all the facilities of the Atlantis Bahamas, just down the beach, and a short shuttle ride away.
One&Only Ocean Club for families
Who'd think that a resort with a garden inspired by Versailles would welcome families, but this one does, and families make up a good part of the clientele. Family-friendly features include:
- heated kids' pool, with waterfall and youth pool concierge who suggests games and aqua toys
- children's menu, even in the signature Dune restaurant
- cribs and bath toys available
- free shuttle to nearby Atlantis resort, famed for its waterslides, shark lagoons, etc. (a total kid-pleaser)
- KidsOnly program, daily for ages 6 to 12, and younger if accompanied by a parent or guardian
- teens 14 and up can use the Versailles pool by the Versailles gardens
Daily themes at KidsOnly include Hocus Pocus Day (kids learn to juggle and do magic tricks), Pirates in Paradise Day, and Discovering The Lost City of Atlantis Day, when kids visit the Atlantis Resort and explore its archeological chambers, "The Dig", as well as getting playtime on the waterslides.
