Beach Palace - Cancun All-inclusive Resort

By Teresa Plowright, About.com

Beach Palace Resort: Background

Several Palace properties in Cancun and the Mayan Riviera welcome families. Palace Resorts have a "Stay at one, enjoy all" policy: guests can make day-visits to other properties. Another shared feature is "Palace Passport" -- see below.

The Beach Palace is in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone, 15 minutes from the airport and close to malls, handcrafts market, entertainment areas. The Cancun Hotel Zone has water on two sides, and this property has views of both the Caribbean ocean and of Nichupte lagoon.

Cancun beaches were hit hard by hurricanes in recent years. reconstruction continues; always check current conditions for any Cancun resort. (See how, below.)

The Beach Palace was closed for extensive renovations after Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and reopened in Jan. 2008.

Beach Palace: Features

Visitors praise the all-new decor, after the major post-hurricane renovation; the resort has three pools, two on the rooftop. All rooms have balconies, and either ocean or lagoon views; rooms have flat screen satellite TV, wireless internet, double Jacuzzi, turndown service and other niceties.

As at most all-inclusives, guests can enjoy daily activities, table games, ping-pong etc., specialty restaurants, and nightly shows or theme nights.

For families:

  • kiddie pool at the Kids Club
  • Kids Club for ages 4 to 12*
  • 24-hour room service can be convenient for families

A nice perk at Palace resorts are the all-included "Palace Passport" tours. For example, guests at the Cancun resorts (Beach Palace, Sun Palace, Cancun Palace, Moon Palace) can try outings to: Chichen-Itza Mayan ruins; Wet'n Wild waterpark; Tulum Mayan ruins/Xpu-Ha; Isla Mujeres; Coba (Mayan ruins); Ek-Balam/Valladolid; and a snorkeling outing. (Check tours). (For US, Canada, and Mexico residents only.)

Keep in mind about Beach Palace

  • while beach is limited, remember you can visit other Palace Resorts and use their pools and beach
  • waves can be rough
  • golfers might like the "Golf Inclusive" category with greens fees and roundtrip transfers to two clubs, snacks, beverges & shared cart
