Background on the Avalon Grand Cancun
The Avalon Resorts group has five properties, including Avalon Reef Club on Isla Mujeres, the Baccara boutique hotel next to the Avalon Grand Cancun, and the Avalon Grand Panama; a new property with golf course is planned for the Cancun port area.
- The Avalon Grand Cancun is in the Hotel Zone on a 14-mile stretch of Caribbean beach. (Note: seems that beach suffered hurricane damage; read recent visitors' comments for latest.)
- Mid-rise towers have standard guestrooms and junior, one and two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes. All have views of the Caribbean to the east or the Nichupte Lagoon to the west.
- facilities at the Avalon Grand Cancun include adults pool, kids' pool; spa; fitness center; three restaurants.
- activities include beach volleyball, pool volleyball, water aerobics, bingo, Spanish lessons, dance lessons, beach parties.

- guests at the Avalon Cancun Grand have all-inclusive privileges at the Avalon Reef Club on Isla Mujeres 6-1/2 miles away. Many guests take a shuttle boat for a day trip.
- Isla Mujeres also offers Garrafon National Park: part natural park, part tourist attraction, with snorkeling, snuba, sea-trekking, zip line, and restaurants
- Bluewater Adventures offers outings in the Cancun area. On the Jungle Adventure, visitors drive their own speed boat through mangrove forest, led by a guide; then snorkel at a coral reef (with instruction, if needed.) Kids can either drive or sit with an adult. Other Adventures include: glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, catamaran rides, sunset cruise.
