Blue Bay Club - Background

--well-priced all-inclusive resort, just outside the Cancun Hotel Zone.

This resort is located in Puerto Juarez, about five miles north of Cancun. Travel time from the Cancun airport is 20 minutes.

Blue Bay Club has 800 feet of white-sand beachfront. Rooms are large, with 53 "Superior" rooms and 107 Junior Suites. (Note that "junior suites" are typically one room with divided areas, not multi-room).

Puerto Juarez is the departure point for ferries to the laid-back small island of Isla Mujeres. Take a day outing: ferry ride to the island takes about 20-minutes, and the ferry terminal is approx. a 20-minute walk from the resort (or take a taxi.)

Be sure to also explore the Riviera Maya, south of Cancun, which offers Mayan ruins, 2nd largest barrier reef in the world, snorkeling lagoons, excellent eco-theme park Xcaret... (Head to Riviera Maya highlights.)

Blue Bay Club - Features

The beach and the large free-form pool are the main attractions. Like most all-inclusive, Blue Bay Resorts also offers:

  • Non-motorized water sports
  • daily program of activities. (Aquaerobics, dance class, kayak tours, hobie cat classes, bingo, ping pong...)
  • nightly entertainment and weekly live shows
  • tennis, basketball, volleyball and soccer field
  • two specialty restaurants in addition to buffet meals
Guests can upgrade to a "Silver Plan" for extra perks, such as room service, premier menu at specialty restaurants, discounts for Spa and tours. RCI members get perks too.

Features for Families

  • the large free form pool has shallow kids' area (and pool is open at night)
  • room service for continental breakfast can be convenient
  • pool-side games (races, trivia, etc.) and other daily activities for adults and kids
  • Kid's Club with supervised activities for ages 5 to 12. (See schedule - face-painting, sandcastles, pool games, movie time...)
  • sea is generally more "swimmable" and less rough than some beach areas in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Children's Rates: two kids up to 6 years old are free; 3rd pays normal child rate. A child between 7 and 12 years of age normally pays $25US.* Check for Kids Free promotions at off-peak times of year.

Keep in mind about the Blue Bay Club Cancun:

  • there is some seaweed at the beach, but it's tidied daily
  • for those fed up with not being able to find a lounge-chair at a resort: one visitor comments, "you could always find a palapa with lounge chair on the beach, and a lounge chair near the pool". (Of course this may vary during peak periods.)
  • guests 21 years and older can visit sister property Blue Bay Getaway & Spa, with complimentary shuttle.
  • check what type of cribs are available. One visitor reports that cribs are not suitable for infants that can pull themselves up and climb.
  • this is not the same company as Blue Bay Resorts
