Make this your first sightseeing stop in Montreal! With a convenient location in Old Montreal, this museum sits, literally, on top of the site of Montreal's first settlement beside the St. Lawrence River. Kids can absorb some history about Montreal in two very fun ways.

Head first to the multimedia theater for a fast-paced show that introduces centuries of Montreal's history. Images are displayed on a three-sided screen in a theater perched above archeological remnants of the old city.

After the show, visitors descend -- literally-- to the subterranean level where an exhibit called "Where Montreal Was Born" is housed within the ruins of centuries-old stone walls. With subterranean walls, a stone tunnel and an archeological crypt, this museum gets high marks for historical ambiance!
