Yellowstone National Park: park ranger programs
Let's face it: a visit to Yellowstone Park is a "learning vacation", no matter how much fun you have. It's impossible to be in this unique spot on the planet without wanting to learn about geology and wildlife. Fortunately, learning is easy due to an abundance of free or low-cost Park Ranger programs.
Below, a Park Ranger gives a group of kids an excellent introduction into the game of life as it's played at Yellowstone: a tough game, for all the animals trying to survive in one of our last wild places.
If you enter the park from the north, Head to the Visitor's Center at Mammoth Hot Springs, and sign up the kids for the "Junior Ranger" program (for $3.) They'll receive a newspaper with lots of facts about wildlife, and activities they can complete to earn a patch (badge). Junior Ranger is a great way for kids to learn while they have fun in the Park.
Read about the Junior Ranger program at the National Parks site.
