Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park: photos & tips-- Starting page trip review: Yellowstone Family Adventure

Another view of the Lower Falls, which plunge 308  feet. (The Upper Falls, with a drop of 109 feet, are beautiful but less spectacular.)  This view is from the South Rim of the Canyon; be sure to allow time to hike along the Rim.

It's also fun to hike down Uncle Tom's trail (named for "Uncle Tom" Richardson, who took visitors on a rough trail back in 1898). The trail descends nearly to the bottom of the Falls: it has over 300 stairs, but the view is worth the climb. You may find that your kids beat you on the way back up!
