Over the years, the combined Whistler-Blackcomb  mountains have become one of the choice ski destinations in North America-- often ranked as the top ski resort in the world.

Whistler also has one of the longest ski seasons: Blackcomb Mountain runs until mid-April, but Whistler continues well into June.

From beautiful Vancouver, Whistler is reached by driving the scenic Sea-to-Sky highway  for an hour and a half. Once there, in addition to prime skiing you'll find plenty of fun especially for kids:  kids-only lifts such as Blackcomb's Magic carpet; Kids Adventure Zones (a magic castle, secret forts, etc.); Children's Learning Centre;  adventure camps for skiing and snowboarding; "Ride Tribe" for teens 13 to 17; horse-drawn sleigh-rides; cross-country ski trails, and lots more.

You'll also find licensed day care for babies from 3 months to 3 years old; kids' Apres-Ski  at the Children's Learning Centre; and Kids Night on the town.

For a break from skiing, try these ideas: a public swimming pool with "whirlpool"; skate-and-swim sessions at the Meadow Park Sports Centre (with wading pool); Great Wall Underground climbing center;  the Alpen Rock House indoor playground, with bowling, video games, etc.  And if the spring weather's really good, Whistler is a great place for mountain-bikes.
