Turtle Bay Resort
The North Shore of Oahu is only an hour's drive from the busy streets of Waikiki, but a world apart.
The North Shore is known for beaches and surf; Turtle Bay is the only resort in the area, and a giant place it is, with 880 acres, 5 miles of beach, and five different bays.
It's also where some of the Fox TV Series, North Shore, has been shot. (North Shore is set in the fictional luxury resort the Grand Waimea, filmed with a ritzy false lobby and facade.)
Turtle Bay Resort for families
Highlights beyond the miles of unspoiled beach include:
- novelty pool with waterfall and slide, in addition to the main pool
- snorkeling: guests can snorkel on-site in a sheltered bay
- boogie boards, floats, rafts, and tubes can be rented
- beach walks: explore the tide pools
- horseriding: trail rides (adults $45, child $30-- check Turtle Bay Resort for current rates)
- on-property surfing school

And remember: airfares and prices drop in summer months.
