Sugar was once king on St. John as on other islands, in theplantation days. Little remains of that era, except for fragments of sugar mill ruins. The picture above was taken at Caneel Bay Resort, established by Laurance Rockefeller decades ago. The tree on the right is the poinciana, one of the beauties of the Caribbean. A luxury resort, Caneel Bay has a kids' club, and certain rooms set aside for families with kids seven and under. Some areas are off-limits to kids under 12. |
