By Teresa Plowright, About.com

Where is the Westin St. John resort?

The Westin St. John is on St. John island, in the US Virgin Islands: three-quarters of St. John is a National Park (land and marine.) The resort's guests fly to St. Thomas airport; luggage is handled while guests proceed to a Westin boat and onward to the resort.

What's special about the Westin St. John for families?

Though not a family resort specifically, (nor an all-inclusive) The Westin St. John is popular with families.

On-site activities are many, and also the resort is a great launching pad for exploring the land and sea beauties of St. John.

  • Kids love the water-trampoline floating off-shore, just a short swim from the white-sand beach.
  • a complimentary Family Club stages paddleboat races, potato sack races
  • The resort itinerary includes croquet, horseshoes, Iguana Feeding, Steel Pan Lessons, and kids' and teens' "floating cinema"-- movies at the pool
  • Kids Club for ages 3 to 12 has arts and crafts, sailing lessons, seashell hunts, field trips

Most guests at the Westin St. John take outings, either by signing up for tours or snorkeling trips, or by exploring on their own by rental jeep (-rental is convenient, right at the resort.) For example: Trunk Bay, pictured above, is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, and a fine place to snorkel, with an underwater "snorkeling trail."
